Banks, UCBs with more than Rs 15,000 cr assets must have two auditors

Commercial banks and urban co-operative banks (UCB) will be allowed to rope in at least two auditors not related to each other and will have to take prior approval of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for appointment or reappointment of statutory auditors on an annual basis, the central bank said on Tuesday. “For entities with an asset size of Rs 15,000 crore and above as at the end of previous year, the statutory audit should be conducted under joint audit of a minimum of two audit firms,” the RBI said. Any bank with a balance sheet of less than Rs 15,000 crore can have one statutory auditor. However, in all cases, concurrent auditors cannot be appointed as statutory auditors.

PAC asks audit authorities to focus on good governance National April 26, 2021 PESHAWAR: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has asked the audit and accounts authorities to focus on performance audit with the sole aim to ensure good governance and eradicate corruption from the public sector organisations. The committee, however, expressed satisfaction on the recovery ratios of the Food Department and especially lauded its steps for increasing supply of wheat in the nook and corner of the province as well as normalising its rate during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. The observation was made during a meeting of the PAC on disposing audit paras on fiscal anomalies in Food Department.
